Our Ongoing Programming Classes progress through four important digital learning subjects: programming, computer science, and app and web development.

Class stages

1. The logic of Programming
   Start with a strong foundation! Students begin their journey by learning the basic principles and logic of programming, as well as the fundamentals of programming 2D games. Once they have completed this subject, they will receive their official Junior Programmer Certificate.
2. App development and programming languages
   Software developers of tomorrow start the next stage in their journey by learning to create their own apps, and work with programming languages including HTML, CSS and JavaScript. When finished, your child will receive two certificates: Junior App Developer and Junior Front-End Developer.
3. Advanced website development
   Moving into more advanced levels of learning, your child will develop professional quality websites and will dive into back-end development using programming languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL. Once completed, they’ll receive two certificates: Front-End Developer and Back-End Developer.
4. Java and Android development
   Rounding out their advanced digital skills, the final stage of the Program will have your child using Java and JavaScript to create advanced apps. Once completed, they’ll receive two important certificates: Junior Java Developer and Junior React Native Developer.

As your child progresses through our Ongoing Programming Classes, they will also gain valuable soft skills including the ability to work confidently in a team, creativity, logical thinking, organized work methods, problem-solving, and independence.

Program details

• The program is open to kids and teens aged 7 – 15 years, and 16 – 18 years.
• Classes are limited to 8-12 students and are available online or in-person.
• The Program is run once a week, with classes divided into three 45-minute lessons (for optimal attention and absorption).
• The entire program takes around four years to complete, however, you can withdraw at any point.
• We offer the program in English and German.
• New courses start regularly throughout the year.
• We don’t host our Ongoing Programming Classes during school holidays.

Our weekend workshops are a fun and engaging way for your child or teen to learn sought-after digital skills from experts in a supportive environment.

Taught by experts in small group classes, our workshops are stimulating, practical and social, so students enjoy their break while actively learning important skills.

Workshop subject areas

1. Online Streamer
   Live streaming is an important skill in today’s world. This subject will teach your child to live stream like a professional with Open Broadcaster on sites including Twitch, YouTube, and Mixer.
2. Presentations
   PowerPoint is everywhere: in schools, colleges, and workplaces it is essential for presentations. This workshop will teach your child how to use their creativity to create professional-quality PowerPoint presentations that will impress.
3. Web Design
   Every business needs a website, and the ability to create bespoke sites quickly and professionally is becoming industry standard. During this class, your child will learn to use the latest tools and technologies to develop slick websites, integrating new skills including UX and UI.
4. Word Processing
   This class will empower your child with a comprehensive understanding of word processing including text, formatting, graphics, and imagery, so they can create professional-level Word documents that set their work head and shoulders above the crowd.
5. Artificial Intelligence
   Artificial Intelligence is becoming enmeshed in our daily lives and understanding how it works is important for programmers of the future. This workshop explores the world of AI, including how it works and how programmers go about building machines capable of AI.
6. Cybersecurity/Data Protection
   In a digital future, cyber security is paramount. In this workshop, your child will learn how to protect their technology with important cyber-security defense strategies.

Workshop details

• Our small group workshops are available to kids and teens aged 11-18 years.
• Workshops are run online and at your local Berlitz Centre.
• There are two options for workshop participation: four consecutive Saturdays, or as a four-day school holiday course.
• Workshops are limited to a max number of 12 participants to ensure individual attention.
• Workshops are available in English and German.
• New courses start regularly.
