¿Alguna vez te has sentido nervioso antes de iniciar una conversación? ¿Has practicado en tu mente como ocurrirá la conversación en diferentes situaciones en el idioma inglés?
Si contestaste que sí a una de estas preguntas, o tal vez a ambas, estás en el lugar correcto.
En este podcast tenemos algo que te puede ayudar a planear mejor el curso de una conversación corta en inglés. El día de hoy veremos algunos ejemplos de diálogos que puedes necesitar en diversas circunstancias, desde ir una tienda, mientras te encuentras de vacaciones en algún destino donde el inglés sea la lengua oficial, pasando por un diálogo que tiene lugar con el oficial de migración, hasta algo que puede resultarte útil si estás en edad escolar o tomas clases de inglés.

Antes de comenzar queremos recordarte algo súper importante: debes perderle el miedo a hablar en inglés. Es vital que, aunque te dé miedo enfrentarte aun hablante nativo, lo intentes, ya que es la mejor manera de perfeccionar tus habilidades en la lengua oral.
- La comunicación oral es algo inevitable en nuestra vida diaria. Si a esto le agregas que vivimos en un mundo globalizado y debemos saber más idiomas además de nuestra lengua materna, pues se vuelve mucho más importante saber comunicarnos oralmente de la forma más acertada.
- Vamos a comenzar con algunos diálogos básicos como, por ejemplo, una conversación que podrías tener en la escuela con tu profesor de inglés y poco a poco iremos cambiando la temática hasta llegar a situaciones más complejas.
Así que, prepárate para tomar notas de algunas de las frases que escuches en cada una de estas conversaciones o incluso practica conmigo repitiéndolas. Esto te puede ayudar a memorizarlos o también te ayudará a practicar la pronunciación. - Como te decía antes, vamos a comenzar con algo muy sencillo, situaciones de la vida diaria: preguntarle algo a tu profesor de inglés, tomar un taxi, comprar ropa en una tienda. Para esto, te voy a presentar primero el tema del que hablaremos y después te diré el pequeño diálogo para que puedas practicarlo.
El primer diálogo tiene lugar en una escuela en la clase de inglés tras regresar de vacaciones
| Teacher: | Good morning, everyone, welcome back to school! How are you? |
| Students: | Hello teacher, fine and you? |
| Teacher: | Excellent! Ok guys, I will ask you to bring me your holiday homework. |
| Student 1: | Ma’am, will you call us in alphabetical order or randomly? |
| Teacher: | Randomly. Actually, you go first. |
| Student 1: | Teacher I can’t find my notebook! I might have left it at home. |
| Teacher: | Have you checked in your backpack and locker? |
| Student 1: | Only in my backpack. Could I go and check my locker? |
| Teacher: | Yes, of course |
| Student 2: | Teacher, I don’t feel well. |
| Teacher: | What’s the problem? Is it stomachache? |
| Student 2: | No ma’am, I’ve got a headache. |
| Teacher: | Ok, please go to the nurse’s office. |
| Student 1: | May I come in, ma’am? |
| Teacher: | Yes of course. Did you find your notebook? |
| Student 1: | Yes! Here it is. |
- ¿Qué tal? Muy simple, ¿verdad?
- Ahora veamos qué sucede cuando salimos de compras, este diálogo sucede entre dos amigas y una empleada de la tienda.| Friend 1: | Look! This dress is so beautiful! I think it’d look great on you! |
| Friend 2: | Oh my God! You’re right, I guess it’s the right one for the party next Saturday! |
| Friend 1: | Indeed! You gotta try it on! |
| Friend 2: | I’d like to see if they’ve got it in a different colour. Excuse me, do you have this item in a different color? |
| Shop assistant: | Yes, we do, blue, black, white and purple |
| Friend 2: | Can I see it in purple, please? |
| Shop assistant: | Of course, give me a moment to find it. In what size? |
| Friend 2: | Medium would be fine. |
| Shop assistant: | There you go. |
| Friend 1: | How much is this shirt? (singular) and these shoes? (plural) |
| Shop assistant: | The shirt is 30 dollars. The shoes are one hundred dollars. |
| Friend 1: | Can I pay by credit card? |
| Shop assistant: | No, sorry. Debit cards only. |
| Friend 2: | Dear!! Look, isn’t it lovely? |
| Friend 1: | Yes! You have to buy it! Go get changed, I’ll meet you at the cash register. I’ll get these shoes, I’ll pay in cash, thanks. |
Si vas a la calle o de paseo, es probable que necesites tomar algún tipo de transporte.
En el siguiente diálogo, te presento una conversación que puedes tener en el taxi con el conductor.
| Taxi driver: | Hi. Where are you going? |
| Passenger: | Hi. To the airport, please. |
| Taxi driver: | Shall I put your bag in the trunk? |
| Passenger: | No thanks. I'll keep it with me. How long will it take to get there? |
| Taxi driver: | About 30 minutes. Are you in a hurry? |
| Passenger: | No, not at all. |
| Taxi driver: | Fasten your seatbelt, please. |
| Passenger: | Okay. |
| Taxi driver: | Where are you flying to? |
| Passenger: | I'm going to the beach to meet some friends. |
| Taxi driver: | That’s so nice. |
(after 30 minutes)
| Taxi driver: | Here we are, the airport. |
| Passenger: | Thank you. How much is it? |
| Taxi driver: | $55 |
| Passenger: | Here's $60. Keep the change |
| Taxi driver: | Thanks. Don't forget your things |
| Passenger: | Okay. Bye. Have a good day! |
Hasta ahora todo ha sido muy sencillo y común en la vida diaria, ¿no? Pasemos a conversaciones mucho más específicas en otro tipo de situaciones.
Comencemos con un diálogo al llegar a un hotel durante tus vacaciones
| Hotel clerk: | Welcome, do you have a reservation with us? |
| Client: | No, I’d like to book a room now, please. |
| Hotel clerk: | Sure, we have single and double rooms, which one would you like? |
| Client: | What’s the price of the double room? |
| Hotel clerk: | It’s 60£ |
| Client: | Perfect. I’d like to book a double room, please. |
| Hotel clerk: | How many guests are with you? |
| Client: | Three. Does the price include breakfast? |
| Client: | Okay, thank you. |
| Hotel clerk: | How many days will you be staying? |
| Client: | Two days, please. |
| Hotel clerk: | Alright, sign here, please. Are you paying by card or cash? |
| Client: | By card, please. |
Pasemos ahora a un diálogo en un contexto de una llamada de negocios:
| Sales Man: | Hello, Music 1000, this is Dave speaking. How may I be of help to you today? |
| Mrs. Johnson: | This is Mrs. Jonhson calling. May I speak to Mr. Smith, please? |
| Sales Man: | I’m afraid he’s out of town. Would you like to leave a message? |
| Mrs. Johnson: | This call is rather urgent. There’s a delivery problem with the instruments we ordered and I wanted to check if this issue was solved by now. |
| Sales Man: | Yes, Mr. Smith told me you would be calling. The shipment was delayed from Seattle. We didn’t receive the whole lot until today. |
| Mrs. Johnson: | I see, when will the shipment reach Kansas? |
| Sales Man: | Since we weren’t able to send it along until this early morning, the warehouse assured the lot will be delivered by tomorrow morning. I’m terribly sorry about the inconvenience. |
| Mrs. Johnson: | Great, I’d love to see this problem solved as quickly as possible. |
| Sales Man: | Mr. Smith wanted to schedule a meeting with you and Mr. Kozlov next week. |
| Mrs. Johnson: | Mr. Kozlov is meeting some clients on Monday and Tuesday, perhaps we could meet on Thursday or Friday morning? He’s free then. |
| Sales Man: | Yes, 10 would be great. |
| Mrs. Johnson: | Ok, I’ll schedule that. Thank you for your help. I’m looking forward to receiving the shipment tomorrow. Goodbye. |
| Sales Man: | Goodbye. |
Una situación un poco más compleja y que a todos nos llega a causar un poco de inquietud y nerviosismo es cuando, al hacer un viaje internacional, tenemos que enfrentarnos a la entrevista con el oficial de migración.
He aquí un rápido ejemplo de cómo puede ser este momento:
| Immigration agent: | Good afternoon. May I see your passport and your visa, please? |
| Traveler: | Yes, here they are. |
| Immigration agent: | Thank you. Please state your full name, age and nationality. |
| Traveler: | My name is John Brown. I am 29 years old and I am Argentinian. |
| Immigration agent: | What is the purpose of your visit, Mr. Brown? |
| Traveler: | Tourism. I came to Texas to visit different spots in the state. |
| Immigration agent: | Your papers are in order. Your visa was issued for three months. |
| Traveler: | Yes, that’s right. I will also visit other places in the United States. |
| Immigration agent: | What other cities are you planning to visit? |
| Traveler: | I’m renting a car to visit New Orleans and Florida. |
| Immigration agent: | How long will be the duration of your stay? |
| Traveler: | It will be for 5 weeks. |
| Immigration agent: | Have you got your return flight booking with you? |
| Traveler: | Yes, here it is. |
| Immigration agent: | Okay, everything in order. Do you have anything to declare? |
| Traveler: | Sorry, I don’t understand the question. |
| Immigration agent: | Do you have any valuables, money or alcohol to declare? |
| Traveler: | Oh no, just my credit cards and my bags. |
| Immigration agent: | Have you brought any food or seeds into the country? |
| Traveler: | Just some packed tea I brought in Argentina. I bought it in the duty-free area in my local airport. |
| Immigration agent: | That’s fine. Anything else? |
| Traveler: | No, nothing at all. |
| Immigration agent: | Ok, you can go ahead. Enjoy your stay. |
Seguro notaste que estas conversaciones no son tan difíciles como podrías haberte imaginado. Todo radica en tener seguridad en ti mismo y practicar un poco la pronunciación y aprenderte algunas frases importantes. Además, te sugerimos que si estás conversando con alguna persona nativa del inglés y este o esta te corrige, no te estreses ni te sientas mal, mejor tómalo como un momento de aprendizaje.
