Language practice meets skiing and tons of fun
New Year’s Eve and skiing in Sauerland – that’s what young sports fans will get to experience in our camp in youth hostel Winterberg. It’s off to the slopes, building a snowman, or discovering the winter landscape.
Winterberg language camp – the perfect place to learn English
Speaking instead of cramming: kids and teens learn English best by using the language. That is our mission at the holiday camp in Winterberg. In addition to an exciting ski and sports program in the afternoons, our participants can look forward to:
- Lessons in the mornings (5 days a week, 4 x 45 minutes each) and
- Learning in small groups according to the Berlitz method ("learning by speaking").
During lessons, our qualified counselors will focus on one thing above all: having fun with English through, for example, varied learning methods. In addition to language games, participants might conduct interviews, write or edit English song lyrics, or create articles for their own camp magazine.
The Berlitz team will assign kids and teens to learning groups according to their age and language level on the day of arrival. This ensures that everyone benefits from the best possible learning environment.
Fun and action at Skicamp Winterberg
Attention sports fans: the language camp in Winterberg is perfect for those who love being on the move and on the slopes. We let off steam on the slopes and we’ll be speaking English the entire time. German is only used for safety or important instructions, such as during skiing lessons.
Ski program
Professional ski lessons are the focus in our amp Winterberg. We hit the slopes four days a week for three hours each. It doesn’t matter whether kids have never been on skis before or are already gliding down the slopes like the pros. Ski equipment rental with helmet and a 4-day ski pass is included.
Relaxed evenings at the Winterberg ski camp
An active day of sports is followed by a well-earned, relaxing evening. After dinner at the restaurant, we might pass the time playing board games, fun quizzes, or we’ll all come together for a movie night. And for New Year’s Eve? Then we’ll have a party and hit the dance floor together!
Important note: The offered activities are depending on the weather, date, and availability – therefore the program may vary.

Welcome to Winterberg: this is where we’ll be staying
Winterberger Straße 1, 59955 Winterberg
Like in the Alps – only closer: Youth Hostel Winterberg
So much space and so many options! Sports-loving kids and teens will feel right at home at the youth hostel. Whether it’s the indoor sports hall, table tennis, play and sunbathing lawn, or sledge rental: nothing is left to be desired here. Directly next to the youth hostel, a climbing wall and a low rope course offer variety. After an eventful day, we’ll make ourselves comfortable in the adorable shared rooms (girls and boys will sleep in separate rooms).
Winter wonders in Sauerland
Here kids can breathe the fresh forest air and enjoy nature: Winterberg in the Rothaargebirge Mountains (Hochsauerland) is a natural paradise. The town is framed by Kahler Asten, Poppenberg, Bremberg, Herrloh, and Kappe Mountains. There, you can also find a large ski area. When the temperatures start to drop, the area around Winterberg turns into a popular winter sports destination with a ski arena near our camp location.

Additional information
Having qualified counselors is the be-all and end-all at our Winterberg language camp. Our counselors come from different countries, including England, Mexico, France, the US, and Austria. They have plenty of experience in looking after kids.
In addition to the lessons in the mornings, they are responsible for organizing the recreational activities in the afternoons and evenings. What makes us stand out: our counselors speak to kids in the foreign language all day long and motivate them to use the foreign language as much as possible. That’s what makes learning fun!
Sports and exercise make you hungry, that’s for sure! That’s why we’ll be feasting on delicious and healthy meals at skicamp Winterberg. We’ll get to enjoy regional cuisine and the fantastic view every day.
Please don’t forget to bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated between meals.
The first camp day: All participants can decide what time they want to arrive and depart. On the day of arrival, check-in takes place between 10 am and 2 pm. Kids will receive their welcome package and get to know the counselor team and other participants. Everyone is welcome to ask any questions they may have at the special parents’ welcome session. In order to place them in the right learning group, we will do a short placement with the kids, based on a few short written and oral questions.
On the day of departure, kids can be picked up after the joint farewell for all camp participants. Please be on time, as the entire Berlitz team will also be leaving. After camp, we will send you the camp magazine and, of course, a certificate of participation.
Then take a look at our kids camp FAQ page where we have gathered further information.
We will also send you further details regarding the pack list, arrival and departure etc. by e-mail after your booking.
