Watery adventures at our English camp in Kössen
Water sports are high on the agenda alongside English lessons at our language camp in the Austrian town of Kössen. Kids can really burn off some energy on canyoneering and rafting trips or by splashing around in the private pool. The dreamy landscape of the Tyrolean Alps provides the perfect conditions for these activities. Let’s go to Austria!
Kössen holiday camp: language training according to the Berlitz method
"In English, please..." is our Berlitz language camp motto. During the lessons as well as the leisure program, kids and teens will learn to, above all, speak freely and fluently. English is the official camp language. That way, kids can automatically perfect their pronunciation and expand their vocabulary.
Our Kössen language camp includes:
- Lessons in the mornings (4 x 45 minutes five days a week) and
- Encouragement to speak in small learning groups.
Kids will be called on to be creative: playful learning methods, such as debates, roleplaying, or creating a camp magazine, ensure that learning is lots of fun. We will split the kids into small groups according to their language level. Kids with no previous knowledge will learn to communicate in everyday situations. Kids who already speak English can deepen their knowledge and learn to use the language practically.
Canyoneering, rafting and much, much more – our leisure program
Afternoons are almost exclusively dedicated to water sports at our Berlitz language camp in Kössen. The supervisors also speak English with the kids the whole time while the recreational activities are taking place. The only exceptions to this rule are the activities in the program like canyoneering and rafting that are organized by external providers. For safety reasons, the instructions for these activities are given in German.
Canyoning and rafting tour in the afternoon
Adventure rafting sees us boarding an inflatable raft and exploring the local river, valleys and gorges for around 2.5 hours. We can also don helmets and neoprene wet suits and go floating around in natural pools on another afternoon, jumping off rocks and abseiling down waterfalls during a canyoneering experience – it’s a pure dose of adventure!
Swimming and bathing in Lake Walchsee
Lake Walchsee is a unique backdrop for swimming adventures thanks to its green water and panoramic mountain views. Among other activities, it also gives kids the opportunity to go canoeing, discover the inflatable iceberg in the lake and let off steam on the water trampolines.
Other activities
And there’s no danger of being bored back at the accommodation site, either. Kids love swimming and playing in the private pool by the building in summer. There’s even an in-house climbing wall for climbing fans. The accommodation also boasts a soccer field, a basketball hoop and a giant sunken trampoline. Anyone who wants to take it a little easier can keep themselves busy in the games room. When evening comes around, we meet outside for a barbecue or a campfire or organize a party in the in-house event room.
Important note: The offered activities are depending on the weather, date, and availability – therefore the program may vary.

Vacation feeling, guaranteed!
Mountains and lakes – welcome to the Kaiserwinkel region in Tyrol
The town of Kössen is situated in the Tyrolean region of Kaiserwinkel – a paradise for mountain lovers and water sports fans that’s located near the Bavarian-Austrian border. Lake Walchsee and the Tiroler Achen river are about as good as it gets for water sports adventures. The region is particularly popular with hikers and skiers in winter. In short: It’s the perfect setting to learn English in a relaxed atmosphere and have a great time doing lots of sport with a bunch of new friends.

Additional information
At our Kössen language camp, your kids will not only learn English, but above all, feel completely comfortable. This is ensured by our experienced counselors who are there for the kids round the clock. In addition to the lessons in the mornings, they organize our varied afternoon and evening program.
In accordance with our Berlitz concept of "learning by speaking", all camp counselors and kids will speak in the foreign language, all day long. Our mission: to make learning languages fun and enjoyable for kids.
At our camps, we make sure our participants get the food they need. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. Depending on the program, there is a hot lunch or a packed lunch for the day.
Please let us know before booking if we need to be aware of any allergies, intolerances, or dietary issues. Kids should also bring their own refillable water bottle.
What to expect on the day of arrival: On the first day, parents should bring their kids to camp according to the time mentioned in the travel information (send to all participants before camp starts). After check-in, our camp team will be able to answer any remaining questions at the parents’ welcome session. Afterwards, all kids will complete a short placement (written and oral). Our welcome package ensures kids are more than ready to start off their camp week.
All important departure information: After a joint farewell with both counselors and all participants, parents will be able to pick up their kids on the day of departure. You will find the exact pick-up time in the travel documents we send out before the camp starts. Please arrive on time, as the Berlitz team will also be departing.
