Cultural awareness: Part 3

Author

While the tendency is to think of things from the standpoint of our own cultural values and beliefs, to be an effective leader, it is important to become more “others-oriented”. In this model, the focus is shifted to thinking of situations from the vantage point of others, specifically as it pertains to cultural differences. This shift in thinking can increase influence and effectiveness from a leadership standpoint. Becoming culturally aware fills in the gaps in your knowledge, giving you the ability to lead and negotiate across teams, divisions and within your community.
