Berlitz
At Berlitz, we offer a variety of course options, including both online and in-person options. This means if you live near one of our language centers, you can opt to have courses in-person with an instructor. No matter whether you choose our in-person or online courses, one thing that is included in every Berlitz course is access to an instructor. You will meet in real-time with an instructor to go over the course material and immerse yourself in the language. This has proven to be the most effective way to learn a new language.
We also offer a self-paced, online option for select languages. This option is delivered online and provides more flexibility to learn at your own pace. It still includes regular, real-time lessons with a Berlitz instructor, but they are available for you to schedule, so you can learn at a pace that suits your goals and needs.
Rosetta Stone
Rosetta Stone is an online platform that allows you to learn at your own pace. It is the most similar to our Berlitz Flex option. With Rosetta Stone, you follow a course plan on your own, going through the lessons without an instructor. There are also add on lessons you can schedule and pay for to meet with an instructor.
Languages Offered
Berlitz
There are close to 100 different languages you can learn with Berlitz. You can choose to focus on a popular language and learn Spanish or you can choose to learn a very rare language, such as Bengali. All of these languages are not available for all the different language course options. The rarer languages are almost exclusively available for private online courses.
For the more popular languages, you can choose between both in-person and online courses, as well as between private and group courses.
Rosetta Stone
With Rosetta Stone, you can learn 25 different languages. They range from the popular languages to some second tier languages, in terms of popularity. The courses are all the same format, no matter what language you choose to learn with Rosetta Stone. They are all offered within the Rosetta Stone online language platform.
Course Progression
Berlitz
With Berlitz, you progress through different course levels to reach fluency. Each course corelates to a different Berlitz level, which is aligned to the global scale for language learning. This keeps you progressing towards an end goal, while also supplying an easy way to track your progress.
You will also take a placement test with Berlitz to ensure you start at the right level.
Rosetta Stone
With Rosetta Stone, you can buy the entire course from start to finish based on your desired timeframe. They have options for 3 months, 12 months and lifetime courses. The courses follow a standard progression that you can track on your own. There are also further options for you to buy as you learn, such as live lessons with an instructor.
Learning Support
Berlitz
While learning with Berlitz, you will have access to a support portal to help with any technical issues, as well as scheduling and billing. This support portal is also great for asking any questions about your course overview and about materials.
On top of this support, you will also be assigned a Success Coach, who will keep in contact with you during your language journey to help keep you motivated and to ensure you are hitting your milestones. This added support is great to ensure you progress through the course and reach your goals.
Rosetta Stone
Like the Berlitz support portal, Rosetta Stone helps through a support ticket and live chat function to help with any technical issues, course questions or billing. They also offer a paid Live feature that you can buy to get more support on the actual language you are learning.
